WHEN THAT SPARK OF LIGHT SUDDENLY STRIKES
As a creative individual, I am inspired by movement. Something as simple as jumping up and down in place could help me begin to shift from one low mental state to a more elevated one.
Lately, it has been difficult to hear my own creative voice. Some call
it writer’s block, some may call it resistance, or even self-sabotage.
All of the above aren’t very comforting expressions but
when it has its grip on you, you know that unless you can look at it dead in
the eye, you aren’t coming out victorious.
And then weeks, months, seemingly years go by and
nothing gets written, nor created for that matter. And you sit in bed each
morning wondering when you’ll get that surge-of-electricity-feeling igniting
that fire within you again. It repeats onto the next day, still nothing.
Until suddenly a shift happens. It’s as if your eyes
readjust but instead of changing pictures, you see glimpses of snapshots of
what could be. It’s as if your whole body sheds the weight of self-loathing in
one surge of feeling connected to an outlet situated at the gates of the divine
source that are now pouring fountains of honey-sweetened notes into your psyche
full of inspiration. It’s as if nothing else matters but now this newfound
sense of movement and the desire to express what is moving through your bodily
system. Before it’s gone, before you blink, you must hold it in your arms as
you know as quickly as it came it will leave with an afterglow of hope and
transient love. But lasting indeed, this love is like nothing felt from outside
yourself as it arises from the potent potentiality within, giving birth to a
creative force ready to incarnate life.
I like to call this experience a download of sorts.
It’s the most beautiful experience of SAMADHI,
which in yogic philosophy represents the experience of total
“self-collectedness” where the perception of mind, body, spirit and total
presence just fuse together into this perfect awareness of life itself…
This is a goal of meditation once you begin or have been
on this yogic path, you realize it’s quite difficult actually learning to
dissolve misapprehensions and attachments from the mind, especially those that
have been logged in your subconscious program since you were five years old.
Even with a subconscious program that may be on loop for
those weeks before this download of life strikes, it doesn’t matter because
this force is hungry and wants a space to be served. Whatever pours through
during this connection is a direction telling you where to look next,
especially if you have been feeling confused or stifled in your creative endeavors.
Spirit is always trying to communicate with us. When we
can get quite enough to answer its call, that is where the real embodied magic
can start to create things through us. May we never forget that we are the
expression of life itself embodied and capable of creating anything and we
supported when we can feel that direct connection to life itself coursing
through our veins. Keep moving and shaking.
